Tree removal, trimming, deadwooding, stump grinding, and storm work.

Service Overview

Tree Removal & Trimming tailored to your property

Charlotte's mature tree canopy is one of the best things about living here — until a 60-foot willow oak is leaning over your roofline or a summer thunderstorm drops a hickory across the driveway. We handle tree removal and trimming for homeowners, HOAs, and commercial properties across the metro, from a single dead pine in the back corner to multi-tree removals around houses, pools, and power lines.

Every removal is planned before the first cut: rigging points, drop zones, escape paths, and protection for what stays. We climb, we use bucket trucks, and we bring in cranes when the job calls for it — whatever it takes to get the tree on the ground without putting your house, fence, or landscape at risk.

What we do

A snapshot of the work we commonly take on under this service. Your scope is built from what your property actually needs — pick and choose, or let us recommend.

Who it's for

Homeowners with hazardous trees

Leaning trunks, dead limbs over the roof, splits in the canopy, root rot at the base — we assess the risk honestly and remove only what actually needs to come down.

Property owners after storms

Trees on houses, blocked driveways, downed limbs across fences — we respond fast across Charlotte, Huntersville, Mooresville, and Fort Mill with crews and equipment ready to clear and haul.

HOAs & commercial properties

Common-area canopy management, parking-lot trees, sight-line clearing, and routine deadwooding — scheduled to keep your property safe without disrupting tenants or residents.

How we scope your project

Every property is different, so every quote is too. Here's the general path we take from first call to finished work — adjusted to fit the size, complexity, and goals of your specific project.

  1. 1. On-site tree assessment

We walk the property with you, identify hazardous trees, talk through what should stay versus go, and explain the safest way to take each one down.

  2. 2. Written quote & plan

You get a tree-by-tree quote with removal method (climb, bucket, crane), debris handling (chip on-site, haul off), and stump grinding called out separately.

  3. 3. Rig & remove

Drop zones flagged, ropes set, neighboring trees and structures protected. Limbs are lowered with rigging where needed — never free-dropped onto a roof or fence.

  4. 4. Cleanup & grind

All debris chipped or hauled, lawn raked, stumps ground 6–8 inches below grade and back-filled with grindings. Site left ready to seed, sod, or replant.

Why Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation

  • Fully insured for tree work — general liability and workers' comp, certificates available on request.
  • ISA-trained climbers and crane-rated rigging on the larger jobs.
  • We protect what stays: lawns matted, beds tarped, neighboring limbs roped clear before any cut.
  • Stump grinding included as a clear line item — no surprise upcharge after the tree is down.

Frequently asked questions

How much does tree removal cost in Charlotte?+

Most residential removals run $400–$2,500 per tree depending on size, location, and access. Large oaks and pines near structures or power lines run higher and may need a crane. Stump grinding is typically $4–$8 per inch of diameter.

Do you handle emergency or storm work?+

Yes. After major Charlotte-area storms we run extended hours to clear trees on houses, driveways, and roads. Call us — if a tree is on your structure, get it documented for insurance and we'll get a crew dispatched as fast as we can.

Will you grind the stump too?+

Yes — we grind stumps 6–8 inches below grade as a separate line item, so you can choose to grind now, later, or not at all. Grindings are back-filled into the hole and the area is left ready for sod or seed.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Charlotte?+

Many municipalities have heritage tree ordinances and HOAs may require approval for removals over a certain diameter. We'll let you know what's required for your address before any cut and can help with the paperwork.
