Landscape Design & Build in Charlotte, NC

Sod, plantings, mulch beds, and full landscape design and install.

Service Overview

Landscape Design & Build tailored to your property

A great landscape doesn't happen by accident — it's the result of proper soil prep, the right plant selections for the Piedmont climate, and clean, intentional design. At Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation, we install full landscapes for homeowners and commercial properties across Charlotte, Huntersville, Cornelius, Mooresville, Fort Mill, and Tega Cay.

Whether you're starting fresh on a new construction lot, replacing a tired front yard, or rebuilding beds after a renovation, we handle the whole job — grading, soil amendments, sod, plantings, mulch, and clean steel or stone edging — so you walk out to a finished landscape that actually thrives in our red clay soil and humid summers.

What we do

A snapshot of the work we commonly take on under this service. Your scope is built from what your property actually needs — pick and choose, or let us recommend.

Who it's for

New construction homeowners

Builder-grade landscaping is rarely enough. We come in after closing and install sod, foundation plantings, mulch beds, and trees that turn a bare lot into a real home.

Homeowners refreshing curb appeal

Tired beds, patchy lawn, overgrown shrubs — we tear out, regrade, and reinstall a clean landscape that boosts resale value and looks intentional from the street.

HOAs & commercial property managers

Multi-property installs, common-area refreshes, and entrance landscaping handled on schedule with crews insured for commercial work.

How we scope your project

Every property is different, so every quote is too. Here's the general path we take from first call to finished work — adjusted to fit the size, complexity, and goals of your specific project.

  1. 1. On-site walk-through

We meet you at the property, listen to what you want, and measure the areas to be installed. No high-pressure sales — just a real conversation about what will work.

  2. 2. Written quote & plant plan

You get an itemized quote with sod variety, plant species, quantities, and mulch type so there are no surprises. We can also provide a simple landscape design when needed.

  3. 3. Property preparation & install

We strip old material, amend the soil, regrade where needed, and install everything in the right order — hardscape edging first, then plants, then mulch and sod.

  4. 4. Walk-through & care plan

Before we leave, we walk the finished landscape with you and hand over a simple watering and care schedule for the first 30 days.

Why Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation

  • We pick plants that survive Charlotte's heavy clay, hot summers, and surprise late frosts — not generic big-box selections.
  • Sod is cut fresh and laid the same day for the best take rate.
  • Beds are properly edged and mulched at the right depth (2–3 inches) — not the sloppy 'mulch volcano' look.
  • Licensed, insured, and locally owned in the Charlotte metro.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of sod is best for Charlotte yards?+

It depends on sun exposure. Bermuda and Zoysia thrive in full sun and handle heat well; Tall Fescue is the right call for shaded yards in places like Davidson and parts of Cornelius. We'll recommend the right variety for your specific lot.

When is the best time to install a new landscape?+

Spring (March–May) and fall (September–November) are ideal for plantings and cool-season sod. Warm-season sod like Bermuda and Zoysia installs best from late spring through early summer. That said, with proper watering we install year-round.

Do you offer landscape design?+

Yes. For most residential projects we provide a simple bed layout and plant plan as part of the quote. For larger or more complex properties we can prepare a detailed design at an additional fee.

How long does a typical install take?+

Most residential front-yard installs are completed in 2–4 days. Full-property installs and commercial sites typically run 1–2 weeks depending on scope.
