Tree & Shrub Planting in Charlotte, NC
Trees, shrubs & perennials chosen for the Piedmont climate and planted to thrive.
Service Overview
Tree & Shrub Planting tailored to your property
The right plant in the right spot will outlive you. The wrong plant — or the right plant installed wrong — will be dead by year two. We select trees, shrubs, and perennials proven to thrive in Charlotte's red clay, hot summers, and surprise late frosts, and we plant them properly: dug to the right depth, root ball scored, soil amended, and watered in correctly.
Whether you're filling out a new construction lot in Waxhaw, building a privacy hedge in Fort Mill, replacing dying foundation shrubs in Ballantyne, or planting shade trees for a commercial property in Huntersville, we handle the species selection, sourcing, and installation as a complete service.

Who it's for
Homeowners refreshing foundation beds
Tired boxwoods and overgrown azaleas dragging down your curb appeal? We tear them out and replace them with a layered planting of evergreens, perennials, and seasonal color.
Properties needing privacy or screening
Green Giant arborvitae, Leyland cypress, hollies, and laurels installed as a proper screen — not three plants spaced 20 feet apart hoping they'll fill in.
Commercial & HOA plantings
Entrance landscaping, common-area trees, and amenity-area plantings sourced from quality growers and installed with warranty coverage.
How we scope your project
Every property is different, so every quote is too. Here's the general path we take from first call to finished work — adjusted to fit the size, complexity, and goals of your specific project.
1. Site evaluation & plant selection
We assess sun, soil, drainage, and existing plantings, then recommend species that will actually thrive — not just look good on the truck the day of install.
2. Sourcing & sizing
We source from established Carolinas growers — healthier root systems and varieties bred for our climate. You see the plants before they go in the ground.
3. Proper installation
Holes dug 2x the root ball width, sides scored, soil amended with compost, root flare set at grade, and a watering basin built. Trees staked when needed.
4. Care & warranty handoff
You get a written watering schedule for the first 90 days and the establishment do's and don'ts. Most plants carry a 1-year warranty.
Why Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation
- Plant selection driven by Piedmont climate reality — not big-box impulse buys.
- Root flares set at grade — never planted too deep, the #1 cause of new tree death.
- Soil amended properly so roots leave the original ball and grow into native soil.
- 1-year warranty on most plant material when we install and you follow the care plan.

Frequently asked questions
What trees grow best in Charlotte?+
For shade: Red Maple, Willow Oak, and Bald Cypress all do well. For ornamentals: Crepe Myrtle, Japanese Maple, and Eastern Redbud are reliable. For evergreen screening: Green Giant arborvitae and Nellie R. Stevens holly are hard to beat.
When is the best time to plant?+
Fall (October–November) is ideal — roots establish through the cool, wet winter. Early spring (February–April) is also strong. We plant year-round but with adjusted watering plans in summer.
Do you guarantee the plants?+
Yes — most trees and shrubs we install carry a 1-year warranty when you follow the watering plan. Perennials and seasonal color are not warrantied due to their nature.
How big do the plants come?+
We typically install 7-gallon to 25-gallon shrubs and 1.5-inch to 3-inch caliper trees for residential work — large enough to look established but small enough to recover from transplant well. We can go larger for commercial projects.
