Acreage, terrain, and disposal — the real factors that drive land clearing pricing in the Charlotte metro.
Land clearing pricing varies widely because every lot is different. Here's what actually drives cost in the Charlotte area, plus realistic ranges so you can budget your project.
Forestry mulching vs traditional clearing
Forestry mulching grinds trees and brush into a mulch layer left on-site. It's fast, leaves no debris pile, and runs $1,500–$3,500 per acre for light-to-moderate growth. Traditional clearing with haul-off costs more — typically $3,000–$8,000 per acre — but leaves bare ground ready for grading.
What drives the price up
Large hardwoods, steep terrain, wet ground, distance to a dump site, and stump grinding all add cost. A flat acre of pines is the cheap end; a wooded acre with mature oaks and slope is the expensive end.
Permits and tree ordinances
Charlotte, Matthews, Davidson, Weddington, and most surrounding municipalities have tree protection ordinances. Some require permits before clearing. We pull permits and stay within ordinances on every job.
