Pool Decks & Coping in Charlotte, NC
Travertine, paver, and natural stone pool decks engineered for slip resistance and beauty.
Service Overview
Pool Decks & Coping tailored to your property
Charlotte summers mean your pool deck gets used four to five months a year — wet feet, lounge chairs, kid traffic, and 95° days when the deck surface itself can become uncomfortably hot. The right pool deck material — travertine, concrete pavers, or natural stone — stays cool underfoot, holds up to chlorine and saltwater, and looks built-in rather than tacked on around the pool.
We design and install new pool decks and coping, replace failing concrete pool decks, and resurface existing decks across the Charlotte metro. Travertine for naturally cool surfaces, concrete pavers for cost-effective design flexibility, natural stone for the highest-end look — all engineered with proper drainage away from the pool and joints that handle the wet/dry cycle without failing.

Who it's for
Homeowners with cracked concrete pool decks
Old broom-finish concrete around a pool cracks, stains, gets slick when wet, and is brutally hot in summer. Travertine or pavers solve all four problems in one renovation.
New pool builds in Lake Norman, Waxhaw & Fort Mill
If you're building a new pool, the deck is a separate project from the pool shell. We coordinate directly with your pool contractor so deck and coping go in seamlessly after pool install.
Properties tying pool to outdoor living space
Pool deck can flow directly into a paver patio, fire pit, and outdoor kitchen for one cohesive outdoor living area instead of an isolated pool surround.
How we scope your project
Every property is different, so every quote is too. Here's the general path we take from first call to finished work — adjusted to fit the size, complexity, and goals of your specific project.
1. Design & coordination
We measure the pool, talk through deck size and material, evaluate drainage, and coordinate with your pool contractor on coping and bond beam details.
2. Excavation, base & drainage
Existing surface removed (if a replacement), engineered base installed with proper slope away from the pool, and any deck drains tied into the property's drainage system.
3. Coping & deck install
Coping set first along the pool edge with proper overhang, then deck pavers or stone laid out from the coping. Custom cuts at all curves and edges.
4. Joint sand & cleanup
Polymeric joint sand swept and activated. Pool, deck, and surrounding area cleaned. Any landscaping disturbed during install restored before we leave.
Why Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation
- Engineered base and proper slope away from the pool — water sheds off the deck, not into the pool basin.
- Coping installed with correct overhang and proper bonding — won't loosen or shift over time.
- Travertine and natural stone sourced for slip resistance and chlorine/saltwater compatibility.
- Direct coordination with pool contractors so deck and pool finish look like one unified project.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a pool deck cost in Charlotte?+
Travertine pool decks typically run $22–$35 per square foot installed. Concrete pavers run $18–$28. Natural stone runs higher. Coping is priced per linear foot. Most full pool deck replacements fall between $15,000 and $40,000 depending on size and material.
Travertine or concrete pavers — which is better around a pool?+
Travertine stays naturally cooler underfoot in summer and has a higher-end look. Concrete pavers offer more design flexibility and lower cost. Both handle chlorine and saltwater well when properly installed and sealed.
Do I need to seal my pool deck?+
Recommended for travertine and natural stone — sealing protects against staining, color fade, and chemical exposure. We can seal at install or after the deck has fully cured. Concrete pavers can also be sealed for color enhancement.
Can you replace my deck without disturbing the pool?+
Yes — pool deck replacement is done with the pool covered and protected. Coping replacement requires more careful work right at the pool edge but is routine for our crews.
