Custom Fire Pits & Seat Walls in Charlotte, NC
Custom wood-burning and gas fire pits with curved seat walls that anchor outdoor living spaces.
Service Overview
Fire Pits & Seat Walls tailored to your property
A fire pit transforms a paver patio from a place you eat dinner once a week into the spot the whole family uses three seasons a year. Charlotte's mild fall and spring make outdoor fires an extension of indoor living from late September straight through May. Add a curved seat wall around it and you've created built-in seating for 8–12 people without taking up any extra patio footprint.
We design and install wood-burning and gas fire pits with matching seat walls across the Charlotte metro — concrete paver pits, natural stone, and stone-veneered cores with capstone tops. Pits can be tied into existing patios or built into new patio designs as part of one cohesive outdoor living space.

Who it's for
Homeowners with an existing patio that feels empty
If you've got a patio nobody hangs out on, the fix is almost always a fire feature plus seating. A fire pit and seat wall instantly turn a slab into a destination.
New patio builds wanting integrated design
Building a new patio? Designing the fire pit and seat wall in from the start is dramatically cheaper and looks more cohesive than bolting one on later.
Properties with gas access to backyard
If you've got natural gas service and a backyard run is reasonable, a gas fire pit gives you instant on/off, no smoke, no wood storage, and almost no cleanup — perfect for entertaining.
How we scope your project
Every property is different, so every quote is too. Here's the general path we take from first call to finished work — adjusted to fit the size, complexity, and goals of your specific project.
1. Design & location
We work out the right fire pit size (typically 36–48 inch interior), seat wall layout, and clearances from the house, fence, and overhanging trees per local code.
2. Material & fuel selection
Wood-burning vs gas, paver vs natural stone, capstone choices, and seat wall height (typically 18–22 inches for comfortable seating without cushions, lower for cushioned use).
3. Construction
Pit and walls built on compacted base with proper footing. Wood-burning pits get fire-rated firebrick liners. Gas pits get burner pan, key valve plumbing, and lava rock or glass fill.
4. Final touches & training
Capstone glued and sealed, surrounding patio joints finished, and (for gas pits) we walk you through ignition, key valve operation, and seasonal maintenance.
Why Piedmont Landscape & Irrigation
- Wood-burning pits lined with fire-rated firebrick — won't crack from heat cycling.
- Gas pits installed by licensed gas contractors with code-compliant key valve placement.
- Seat walls sized for actual seating (18–22 inch height), not too low or too tall.
- Designed and built as part of the patio, not bolted on as an afterthought.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a fire pit and seat wall cost in Charlotte?+
Wood-burning paver fire pits with a small seat wall typically start around $4,500–$6,500 installed. Gas pits add $1,500–$3,500 for burner kit, plumbing, and gas line work. Larger custom designs with extensive seat walls go higher — flat quotes after the site visit.
Wood-burning or gas — which should I choose?+
Wood for ambiance, smell, and crackle. Gas for instant on/off, no smoke (great for tighter neighborhoods like Dilworth or Plaza Midwood), and no cleanup. Some homeowners build wood pits in larger Lake Norman or Waxhaw lots and gas pits in city neighborhoods.
Are there code restrictions on fire pits in Charlotte?+
Yes — Charlotte and most municipalities have minimum clearance requirements from structures, property lines, and overhanging trees. HOAs may have additional restrictions. We design to code and confirm HOA approval before starting.
Can you add a fire pit to my existing patio?+
Yes — we can tie a new fire pit into an existing patio. We typically remove a section of pavers, build the pit on its own footing, and re-tie the surrounding pavers around it for a clean integrated look.
Make the patio the room you actually use.
